To Attract Your Choice Client, You MUST Be In Alignment With Them

Over the past month, I’ve been a participant in an incredible program given by David & Kristin Morelli, hosts of the “Everything Is Energy” radio show (which you can find on iTunes and ContactTalkRadio.com).

The program, which is called “40 Days And 40 Nights To A Quantum Leap In Your Wealth,” is what David & Kristin call a full immersion program, featuring twice-daily calls, morning and evening meditations, and lots of group coaching.

David and Kristin teach their students how to work with energy to create whatever you want in your life, including wealth and abundance.  One principle they dive deeply into is this: you must BE in the vibration – i.e., the energy – of that which you want to create in your life. (“Your vibration is your asking,” they say.  I love that!)

So how does this relate to attracting your ideal clients? Simple!  You must BE in energetic alignment with them to attract them!

In other words, to attract your ideal clients, you must be like them.

If you’re not attracting the kinds of clients you want… the kind who invest in themselves, pay you what you are worth, do their work, and respect your time, one place to start looking is where you are showing up in these areas.

Do you invest in yourself?  Value your coaches and mentors (instead of resenting paying them money)?  Do you hold yourself to the same standards as you do your clients?  Do you do your work, too?

If not, you’re out of alignment. Without alignment, attracting your choice clients will be about as easy as water flowing UP a mountain.

It’s well known that by narrowing your focus and choosing a specific niche – i.e., a group of people and a pressing problem that they have – you’ll attract more clients, almost like magic. (It sounds counter-intuitive – “if I’m ONLY serving a particular group, aren’t I giving up potential clients?” – but in reality, choosing a niche is like turning on a light in a crowded room: suddenly you’re visible, when it was like you were IN-visible before.)

When choosing a niche, make sure to choose a group that you’re in alignment with. (Alignment is exactly why I chose to work with spirit-minded, purpose-driven business owners – such as coaches, holistic & wellness practitioners, metaphysical consultants and other change agents.)

No matter what, you’ve got to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk! And you have to feel it, deep down.  Your energy vibration is a way of being. (Another way you might be out of alignment of attracting what you want in a client is the beliefs and values that you hold.)

My coach’s request for you is to take a look at where you might be out of alignment with what you say you want. Start with your ideal clients, then take a look at your business as a whole… then your life.  Then take 3 action steps to clean up any alignment mis-matches. These can be simple, such as paying a visit to a place where your clients might hang out, or you can dig deep and take steps to clear some limiting beliefs that aren’t in alignment with what you are trying to attract.

I encourage you to return to this exercise on a regular basis! Again, your energy is your way of being in the world.  When your energy matches what you really want in your heart, incredible things begin to unfold in your life and business… which is exactly what I wish for you.

To Experience Abundance In Your Business, You MUST Have Strong Boundaries

Did you read last week’s article in the Abundant Business ezine?  It may be my most-responded-to article yet.  So many readers wrote in to say that it struck a chord (and to share triumphant success stories of cleaning up their own boundaries).  I’ve posted the article below.  This is SUCH an important topic – please feel free to repost and re-Tweet. If you follow me on Twitter or are a friend on Facebook (if not, please do!), you may have noticed that I was particularly silent last week.  Why?   After 3 weekends of travel to three amazing events in just over a month, all of the signs were clear: I was pushing myself too hard.  I needed to rest.

Now, those who know me are sitting there smiling to themselves.  I have a reputation for “doing it all.” So it would be easy to say that it was just a case of finally burning out.  But my intuition told me it there was something else going on: my energy was being drained thanks to some pretty serious boundary leaks.

Here are some areas where you want to be sure that YOUR boundaries are clearly drawn:

1. Your money. Do you cave in when your clients ask you for a discount or extra services, or worse, are you bartering your services when you know you should be getting paid?  You will never make the money you want (and deserve) if you are giving away your services.

(If you’re bartering for your services, my coach’s challenge for you is to stop immediately.  No excuses, no apologies.  No matter what the spin, the truth is, the energy behind bartering is “I can’t afford it” – not the message you want to be sending to the Universe if you want abundance in your life.)

2. Your time. Do you let sessions and services run over?  (As someone who is… eloquent, let’s say, I know what a challenge this one can be.)  Do you get caught up in the haze of mindless email checking and Twitter skimming?  Your time is your ONLY non-renewable resource, which makes it the most valuable resource you possess.

3. Your energy. I’ve always been sensitive, bordering on empathic.  And as much as I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, I’m not sure how I got to be in my mid-30’s without fully understanding the realities therein.

Over the past week, I finally got it: your energy is not entirely your own.  If you’re standing next to someone and all of a sudden, you feel grumpy when you didn’t before, guess what!  It’s probably not you. Then there’s the leaks when it comes to expending energy (on other people’s drama, for example).

In both cases: pay attention, respect yourself and just say no. Feeling weird and you don’t know why?  Check in… and perhaps move away from whoever is nearby.   Someone wants to reel you into their drama?  You don’t have to engage.  (This goes for clients, by the way.)

4. People. One of my clients finished up a project (read: completed; as in, her commitments kept) for one of her clients recently.  Her client wasn’t happy and proceeded to interrupt her during private time with all kinds of changes, which would eat into time for her OWN projects.  After a little coaching, my client drew the line: the woman would get her changes, but she’d have to wait her turn.

The lesson: unreasonable demands are just that. You don’t have to give in!  A fear of drawing the line with clients often comes down to a fear of losing a client.  Again, scarcity thinking (and not what you want!).

5. Yourself. This is the biggie, and the one I hear talked about the least.  Boundaries with all of the above start with YOU.  You can have all the boundaries in the world, but they won’t mean a thing if YOU waste your own time, your own energy, your own money. If you’re good at insulating yourself from energy vampires, then turn around and waste hours of your own time in an Internet trance, that’s an incongruence!

I invite you to examine each of these 5 areas for boundary leaks and commit to taking ONE action step to clean up one or more boundaries this week. I cleaned up my boundary leaks across the board, and I immediately felt more energized than I have in months!  (My clients are happy, too, because they have “the Elizabeth they know” back.)

Is Your Business Vision Sabotaging Your Success?

Last year I attended a mind-body-spirit expo here in New York City. The exhibitors included quite a few psychics.  Many of them were offering on-the-spot free readings, including a warm, flamboyant woman I’ll call Claire.

Claire made eye contact with me as I was walking past, then reached out and gave me a bear hug.  “What’s your question, honey?” she asked.

It was around my birthday, and I had been doing a lot of visioning for my business and my life.  So the question that popped into my mind did not come as a surprise.

“I’ve been working on aligning my vision with my purpose,” I said.  “Am I on the right track?”

Claire paused and looked at me deeply.  “Almost,” she said.  “You need to make just a few tweaks.”

Anyone who has had a good reading will not be surprised to hear that Claire’s split-second assessment confirmed what I already knew in my heart.  “But I basically have it, right?” (I was feeling very unsure about it all!)

“Oh yeah, you have it. But remember, if you’re trying to drive to Los Angeles and you’re just a little bit off, keep going the way you’re going and you’ll end up in Des Moines.”  (Is that awesome, or what?)

Having a vision is important, but having the right vision – i.e., YOURS – is mission-critical. Your vision determines your destination – i.e., your outcomes.  You can have the clearest vision in the world, but if it’s the wrong vision for you, you won’t get where you want to go. Wrong vision, wrong destination.  Simple as that.

That’s why I spend so much time with my clients getting very clear on what they really want.  We create the vision before we do ANY of the “nuts and bolts” marketing work.  (Wrong vision, wrong destination equals lost time, money and energy – yuck!)

“That’s great, Elizabeth,” you might be saying.  “But what if my vision just isn’t very clear?”  Here are some tips to bring it into focus:

1. Recognize the lack of clarity for what it REALLY is. After years of working with my own vision and helping others with theirs, here’s what I know for sure: a lack of clarity is NOT about not knowing.  It’s about being afraid of what other people will think, and what we think is possible

(And where do our beliefs about what is possible come from? Other people’s stories – i.e., what they think).

2. Be willing to be honest. Creating a clear vision for your business requires you to be truthful with yourself, and courage to speak your truth… to yourself.  (Note: You DON’T have to speak your vision to anyone else until you’re comfortable!  But you do have to speak it to yourself.)

3. Be willing to be curious. Getting in touch with your true vision often means getting past a lot of junk that has been cluttering up the view.  Instead of getting frustrated or being hard on yourself, you can choose to see it as an adventure, an opportunity.

4. Ask yourself powerful questions. Here’s one: “If I could create my business in any way that I wanted, what would it be?”

5. Forget the how. This one is tough, because our minds immediately want to jump to the details – the how.  But remember: the “how” you know is based on your own experience, and the experience of those around you.  The Universe holds greater possibilities than what we can see with our own two eyes.

Also, the “how” details can prevent us from really going deep with the “what” and “why” – it’s another way for our minds to keep us stuck (and “safe” right where we are).

6. Be willing to  let go of attachment to NOT being clear. This brings us back to self-honesty again.  Are you attached to not being clear? Being unsure is often really a smokescreen… because so often, we use it as an excuse for not taking action.

7. If all else fails… ask yourself, “What am I clear about?” and start there. A clear vision takes time to develop, and almost always requires course correction.   You can’t wait until you have everything worked out to get into action!  Action leads to experience, which leads to feedback which leads to… a refinement of your vision.

8. Be willing to trust the process. Finding your vision (and building your business based on it) also requires taking steps in faith.  You know what’s best for you, better than anyone else – believe it!
