How To Get Clear On Your Perfect Profitable Niche
If you’ve ever struggled to get clients to invest in your services, or if you’re hearing a lot of “I can’t afford it,” you’ve likely stumbled on a key problem that holds spirit-driven entrepreneurs back from making the money they deserve: an unclear (or unprofitable) niche.
Your niche is the combination of the people you serve, and the situation-specific problem you solve for them. While you don’t need to have the “perfect” niche to start getting clients (and indeed, you don’t want to wait!), it’s no secret that to create a 6-figure business, your niche has to be compelling.
When it comes to niche, spiritual entrepreneurs are often in a tailspin of over thinking. But getting clear on your niche is almost always about your mindset than anything else! Before you spend one more minute trying to “figure it out” in your head, use these tips to uncover what you’ve been missing… and gain the clarity you seek!
1. Look to your life experiences.
One of the biggest questions I hear is, “What do I have that they will PAY for?” My answer: first, look to your life!
Spiritual entrepreneurs – especially women – are notorious for discounting and undervaluing their life experiences and keeping their personal stories under wraps in their marketing. Goddess, it’s these things that your clients want the most!
Clients want to work with someone who has walked in their shoes. What challenges have you personally overcome in your life? What big problems were you struggling with, and came out the other side? When you find yourself saying, “Nobody wants to hear about that,” take that as a sign – you might be looking at a very profitable niche opportunity.
2. Think outside of the box.
One of the biggest things that keeps entrepreneurs stuck in the “niche loop” is getting attached to what they THINK it’s going to look like. Truth is, your magic (the deep work) can be applied to dozens of different scenarios you likely haven’t even thought of yet. What groups of people are already investing to solve a specific challenge you could specialize in?
3. Go with the flow.
Are your ideas/services already present within the culture of the group of people you are considering? Are they already investing money in what you’re offering? Changing minds in your marketing is a major uphill battle. You want to be “in the flow” of the mindset that already exists.
4. Get into action.
The only way to know if you have a profitable niche (one that you love) is to TEST – i.e., get out there and get a client or two!
You don’t need a website or a big list. You DO need to create a short program on your topic and tap into an opportunity to connect with your ideal potential clients, such as a networking meeting, speaking opportunity or small local workshop. (Hint: you don’t “find” the opportunity as much as you become aware of it and say yes.)
Outlining your program, connecting with potential clients and having conversations will tell you so much more about the potential of your niche than you could ever figure out on your own, churning in front of the computer.

It can be very difficult to pinpoint your perfect niche opportunities, especially if you’ve been struggling with it for a while. Enlist the support of a coach, mentor or mastermind partner who can be your “fresh eyes.” (This is especially important when considering your life experiences.)

My Favorite – And Fastest – Six-Figure Strategies
All solo businesses go through different stages. There’s the beginning stage, otherwise known as “taking the leap” or “OMG am I really going to do this crazy thing?!”
Then there’s what I affectionately call the blundering-around-trying-to-find-your-way stage, a.k.a. “I’m not sure what I do or who I do it for” (lots of experimenting and course-correcting here)…
Then there’s the “chugging along” stage. You’ve begun to hit your stride, you’re starting to make money… hey, this “crazy thing” just might work! You hang out there for a while because, well, things are good.
And that’s when you nudge up against the sick-and-tired-of-being-at-the-same-level stage. You’re getting restless. The desire for expansion, what Wallace Wattles of Science Of Getting Rich fame calls “more life,” hits… and it’s time to step it up to the next level of income, impact and satisfaction.
I love that stage because it’s such a gift. That tug on your heart is your invitation to make the all-or-nothing decision to break through to a 6-figure income and impact.
The great news is, once you reach this point, you’re not starting from scratch! You’ve been going for a while, so chances are you have everything you need to make the transition quickly and gracefully, with just a few simple actions.
1. Tighten up your niche. Moving to your next level quickly (as opposed to the long and slow road) requires that you focus on a specific problem that people are motivated to invest in to get solved. This means releasing any attachment you may have to your process of deep transformation and getting really focused on what your clients want. Now is the perfect time to look at your niche again, to hone and refine. Are you thinking like a client would? How would they describe the problem you solve?
2. Transition to several levels of service, including a high-end offering. To create 6-figures in your business requires you to stop giving away all of your time in 1-on-1 sessions and instead transition to offering service at different levels of investment and availability. Your 1-on-1 time goes at the highest level, in a premium or high-end service such as a Platinum program or private VIP day.
3. Raise your fees. Once you’ve transitioned to different service levels, thinking in terms of “dollars for hours” and pricing your services at a low hourly rate simply doesn’t work. Instead, get very connected to the value of your new packages and price accordingly – in other words, raise your fees!
One of my favorite exercises for this is to make a list of at least 30 results that are possible for your clients when they work with you. This will force you to get very specific and will keep you connected to all the ways you positively impact your clients’ lives.
4. Systematically grow your list. Now that you’ve repositioned, repackaged and re-priced your services to support more people, it’s time to reach more people. Create a campaign to increase your list, including a clear goal (25% is a good number to start) and a “by when” date (shoot for 30-60 days). One way to do this is to create a new irresistible free offer and launch it as you would a new program, using social media and your current peeps to get the word out.
Remember, growing your business means growing yourself. (Entrepreneurship is not known as “the best personal development course on the planet” for nothing.)
Simple as they may be, these actions are bound to push a few of your buttons. And that’s okay. Think of them as stepping up to a whole new level of service and creating value for your clients – which they are!

To Attract Your Choice Client, You MUST Be In Alignment With Them
Over the past month, I’ve been a participant in an incredible program given by David & Kristin Morelli, hosts of the “Everything Is Energy” radio show (which you can find on iTunes and ContactTalkRadio.com).
The program, which is called “40 Days And 40 Nights To A Quantum Leap In Your Wealth,” is what David & Kristin call a full immersion program, featuring twice-daily calls, morning and evening meditations, and lots of group coaching.
David and Kristin teach their students how to work with energy to create whatever you want in your life, including wealth and abundance. One principle they dive deeply into is this: you must BE in the vibration – i.e., the energy – of that which you want to create in your life. (“Your vibration is your asking,” they say. I love that!)
So how does this relate to attracting your ideal clients? Simple! You must BE in energetic alignment with them to attract them!
In other words, to attract your ideal clients, you must be like them.
If you’re not attracting the kinds of clients you want… the kind who invest in themselves, pay you what you are worth, do their work, and respect your time, one place to start looking is where you are showing up in these areas.
Do you invest in yourself? Value your coaches and mentors (instead of resenting paying them money)? Do you hold yourself to the same standards as you do your clients? Do you do your work, too?
If not, you’re out of alignment. Without alignment, attracting your choice clients will be about as easy as water flowing UP a mountain.
It’s well known that by narrowing your focus and choosing a specific niche – i.e., a group of people and a pressing problem that they have – you’ll attract more clients, almost like magic. (It sounds counter-intuitive – “if I’m ONLY serving a particular group, aren’t I giving up potential clients?” – but in reality, choosing a niche is like turning on a light in a crowded room: suddenly you’re visible, when it was like you were IN-visible before.)
When choosing a niche, make sure to choose a group that you’re in alignment with. (Alignment is exactly why I chose to work with spirit-minded, purpose-driven business owners – such as coaches, holistic & wellness practitioners, metaphysical consultants and other change agents.)
No matter what, you’ve got to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk! And you have to feel it, deep down. Your energy vibration is a way of being. (Another way you might be out of alignment of attracting what you want in a client is the beliefs and values that you hold.)
My coach’s request for you is to take a look at where you might be out of alignment with what you say you want. Start with your ideal clients, then take a look at your business as a whole… then your life. Then take 3 action steps to clean up any alignment mis-matches. These can be simple, such as paying a visit to a place where your clients might hang out, or you can dig deep and take steps to clear some limiting beliefs that aren’t in alignment with what you are trying to attract.
I encourage you to return to this exercise on a regular basis! Again, your energy is your way of being in the world. When your energy matches what you really want in your heart, incredible things begin to unfold in your life and business… which is exactly what I wish for you.
