3 Sabotaging Behaviors That Repel High Quality Clients

Let’s face it: we all want great clients.  In a perfect world, every client would be ready to change their lives: to show up ready to play at every session, do the work required, implement, get fantastic results, and – of course! – be willing to invest.

So many spiritual entrepreneurs yearn for clients like that.  So why is it that so many of them ALSO say things like, “My clients love me and love what I do, but won’t pay for it” ?

Many entrepreneurs, no matter what their business, don’t understand that the clients they attract (and work with) depends entirely on them.  And it goes far beyond just want they say in their marketing.

Many of the actions you take in your business will have an effect on the kinds of potential clients who come to your door, including those that don’t seem like they should.  Here are 3 things that will actually repel the dream clients you really want.

1. Being wishy-washy. Otherwise known as “not making a bold claim.”  Are you afraid to come right out and say what you KNOW is possible for your clients when they work with you?  Many spiritual entrepreneurs are cautious around promising too much.  But think about it: why would a client invest with you if they don’t know what they’re going to get?

The flipside of not making a bold claim is not acknowledging the contribution you made to a client’s success.  (Note I didn’t say “not taking credit for,” which is often confused with acknowledging  contribution.) This shows up in things like not collecting success stories, discounting and minimizing.

2. Inconsistent marketing. Your real job in business is not the thing you do, it’s the marketing of the thing you do.  You must always be marketing.  For one thing, there is simply no way that you can expect to enroll clients and fill your programs without it.   For another, the kinds of clients you want are going to be checking you out before they buy.

When you market consistently, your clients can see that you’re out there, doing your thing.  Showing up powerfully in your marketing will give them the confidence that you’re going to show up powerfully for them.

3. Not investing in yourself. Many spiritual entrepreneurs get really frustrated that their clients won’t pay for their services.  If that’s you, when was the last time YOU paid for service at the fees you wish to charge?  If you want clients who are ready to work on their stuff, are YOU working on your stuff?  Not just on your own, with a book and a journal… but with the help of a trusted, well paid coach, mentor or spiritual guide?

If you want clients who are willing to invest, you must be willing to invest – not simply your time, but your money as well.  High quality clients want to see that you are constantly growing, expanding, moving forward by investing in yourself.  Yes, they do notice!

In business, you CHOOSE your clients. You’re never at the whim of whatever the Universe has to throw at you.  If you are consistently attracting the quote-unquote “wrong” kinds of people, something is out of balance.  Start by looking at these 3 areas and making course corrections.  Remember, you are awesome and so is the work you do!
