- Are you tired of worrying about money?
- Do you get stressed every time you sit down to pay bills?
- Do you feel like there’s a river of money flowing out of your bank account and only a trickle coming in?
Many healers and service-oriented business owners struggle with a love/hate relationship with money. Thing is, like everything else in creation, money is simply energy. Your thoughts about it and your relationship to it affect how money comes and goes from your life.
No matter what marketing strategies you use or programs you buy, if you don’t have a good relationship with money, then you will struggle to build a profitable business and receive the money you want and deserve. In this special one-time-only call, I’ll speak with Melanie Yost, business coach to heart-centered entrepreneurs, on how to heal your relationship with money so you can welcome the abundance that is waiting for you.
I met Melanie at a seminar about a year ago and was instantly impressed with her warm, centered presence and genuine wisdom. I’m honored to introduce you to her in this special fr’e.e class.

You get what you model
One nugget of wisdom that kept coming up over and over again during the training I attended this past week is:
“You don’t get what you say. You get what you model.”
In other words, when you’re in a position of leadership (such as in client relationships), those looking to you as leader will receive (take in, internalize, try on, do) your walk, not your talk. Are you practicing what you preach?
One area that this shows up big time for transformative, healing pros is money. I’m going to lay it on the line, here: There are a lot of gifted healers who teach abundance, prosperity consciousness and Law Of Attraction, yet can’t (or won’t) get past the things that keep them from truly receiving abundance in their own lives. Unfortunately, that keeps both them AND their clients from experiencing the prosperity they truly want.
Does this mean that you have to be perfect? No way! You don’t have to get every “mess” in your life cleaned up before you start working your magic with clients. You don’t have to get everything right! And…
I believe that you DO have to get into action and work on your stuff. Most importantly, you must make a decision to get that stuff handled. In the case of abundance and prosperity, that means no more tolerating old money wounds, undercharging, or living in lack.
Your life is a work of art in progress. Remember, the transformation comes as you take action, not before you do. (That’s a phrase I just love from one of my colleagues, Helen Graves.)
It takes a lot of courage to say yes and “do the work,” but when you do, your clients will see it, and start to step up for themselves. That’s when the magic happens and true transformation can become next-to-effortless. And that’s a beautiful thing. Bright blessings and massive success to you…
How Many Clients Do You Really Want?
Have you ever wished for more clients because you want to help more people and increase your in-come, AND at the same time, felt a little hesitation at the prospect?
Often I hear “spirit-and-soul-preneurs” say they want more clients. But when it gets right down to it, they don’t really want as many clients as they think they do (or think they “should”).
The biggest fear? Overwhelm. (Otherwise known as “too many clients, not enough time.”) Sometimes they’re conscious of this fear, sometimes not. Either way, they hold themselves back, and end up more frustrated than before.
The good news is, as a purpose-driven service-based business owner, you CAN design the business that supports you best. Here’s a simple 6-step formula to hit your target in-come while working with “just enough” clients.
1. Be honest with yourself. One of the very first articles on business I ever read was by James Wells, one of my favorite Tarot consultants. (We both wrote for Llewellyn’s now-defunct almanac The Tarot Reader.) James presented a formula:
Money you want to make = (Number of clients) x (Amount you charge)
It was the first time I’d heard the notion that I could decide how much money I wanted to make, instead of just taking what I thought I could make or what was offered. My mind was blown! (Funny how the simplest ideas are the most powerful, no?)
First things first: decide on your numbers. But beware: there’s little point in designing your business unless you’re really honest with yourself. Don’t worry about what you think is “right” or what you think is possible. Think about the numbers you really want, and WHY you really want them.
2. Drop the “shoulds.” Divide your desired in-come by the number of clients. That’s how much you’ll have to charge each one. Simple!
Want to make six figures while only serving 10 clients one-on-one? Sweet! You can do that. Trouble is, many spirited entrepreneurs see that number and hit a wall… because it’s a lot bigger than they’re used to. And they feel really uncomfortable raising their fees.
You CAN raise your fees and stay in integrity. Remember, it’s all about the value you provide your clients. Get clear on what they’re really getting out of working with you, and put a real dollar value to it.
If you find yourself saying “yeah but…”, ask yourself, “Yeah, but WHAT?” As your clients will undoubtedly have to do the work to get those results, it’s their responsibility to show up and get them. Your responsibility is to provide the way and the support. Both have real value to the client who takes the work seriously. (Which are exactly the kind of clients you want, no?)
3. Think outside the one-on-one box. Classes, information products, programs, affiliate programs… the possibilities to be of service to your clients are endless!
Ask yourself: Can I leverage my time and work with more clients by designing a package or program? This can help you create more in-come in your business while working less, and also provides help and solutions when raising your fees is too much of a stretch. (We all grow in stages!)
Creating a high-value program with a focus on results will also allow you to confidently increase your fees. You can offer more to your clients when you work with them over longer periods of time, and charge accordingly.
4. Leave some wiggle room. When designing your business, your solutions will always be based on your current experience – i.e., what you already know. Undoubtedly, there are solutions out there that you haven’t heard of yet. Leaving a little “wiggle room” will invite the Universe to send a better idea your way and allow you the freedom to act on it without feeling overwhelmed.
For example, let’s say you decide you want to make $80k and work with 20 clients total. You can see how to do it: Create a package or program for $4k and enroll 20 people.
It’s a good solution! But there might be an even better way to reach your goal out there – an idea from a future session with your coach, a class you haven’t attended yet, a conversation with a friend, whatever.
So leave yourself a little room. Instead of 20 clients, focus on the first 5 or 10. This way, you’re in action and building momentum while leaving room for new and exciting possibilities.
5. Get into action as quickly as possible! What steps will you need to take to reach your goal? Create your plan and begin implementing.
6. Course-correct with confidence. With entrepreneurial power comes the need for flexibility. As you implement, you’ll make new discoveries (including, perhaps, a better way of reaching your goal, as mentioned in step 4). Pay attention to what works for you and what doesn’t, and don’t be afraid to adapt to what you learn.

Are you hiding out in your business and life?
One of the things I’ve been talking about a lot lately is hiding out. It’s a topic that’s pretty near and dear to me because it’s something I battled for a very long time and I know that many, many purpose-driven entrepreneurs struggle with the exact same thing.
Making the decision to stop hiding out was truly one of the turning points of my life and business. If you’re not making the money that you want to make in your business or you’re not having the impact you want to have, it’s a decision you’ll have to make, too. (Yes, even if you think you’re not hiding out right now.)
Here are some of the common ways in which you might be hiding out…
- You’re hiding out any time you don’t value your gifts (undercharging, giving away way too much for free)
- You’re hiding out any time you downplay your success (dismiss your accomplishments or say “that’s no big deal”)
- Any time you stay stuck churning in indecision instead of taking some action to move forward, even if it’s not “perfect” or you’re not sure what action to take
- When you hang back from your tribe instead of connecting with them regularly (not sending your newsletter, not actively inviting peeps into your world)
- When you worry about what other people will think (fretting or stewing over a choice you made or something you said, waiting for a reaction to make sure “everything’s okay”)
- When you make excuses as to why you’re not building your business (“I don’t like selling” “I’m afraid of being fake” “I don’t have the time” “I don’t have the money”)
Coming out of hiding means more than just showing yourself. And here’s where I think it gets really scary for people. Coming out of hiding means being bold enough to claim, “This is what I want, it’s okay to want this, and I’m going for it.”
It takes a lot of courage to come out from behind the curtain and say, “This is who I am. This is what I am a stand for.” But the alternative is far too costly.
The great news is, your clients… and all of the people in your life who love you… they WANT to see you for who you are – the real you. And once you truly allow yourself to be seen and heard, you open yourself up to receive what you truly want in your business and life.
My coach’s request to you this week is a big one – it’s to make the decision to stop hiding out, once and for all. Or if you’ve already made that decision, to renew that commitment to yourself and the people in your world. Take one bold action in that direction… and don’t forget to celebrate! Bright blessings & massive success to you…
4 Simple Marketing Steps That Stabilize Your Cash Flow
One of the biggest frustrations I hear from my peeps is, “Elizabeth, I’m so overwhelmed by all this marketing crap!”
And really, it’s no darn wonder, right? There’s always more you “could” be doing (on top of the stuff you know you “should” be doing) which leads to feeling not good enough and guilty, which quickly leads do… doing nothing. (Am I right or am I right?)
Trouble is, “doing nothing” quickly leads to a cash flow squeeze, not to mention letting your gifts go to waste. Not good!
One thing I really value is simplicity. And when you get to the bottom line, relationship-based authentic marketing is simple. Here are the 4 steps you’ll need to master to keep your peeps AND your pocketbook happy…
Step 1: Become a beacon to your perfect clients. What do I mean by this? Know what your perfect clients want, know how you can help them, and openly share that fact – all the time.
On the outside, you’ll need to have some basic things in place, such as a compelling marketing message, a website, a yummy fr.e.e offer and a database (i.e., mailing list). On the inside, becoming a beacon is about owning and boldly claiming what you’re brilliant at (your gifts) and then saying “Here’s how I can help and here’s how your life will change when we work together.”
Step 2: Provide VALUE by creating and sharing great content. Bottom line: business is about helping others and providing massive value to your peeps. Providing great content, both no-cost and paid, adds value and builds trust so that your clients start working with you and stay working with you.
One mistake that many soul-based business owners make is that they give waaaay too much away at the fr’e.e level. Aim to have your fr’e.e. content help them get results AND maintain clear boundaries. Your fr.e.e content should help them get an outcome while leaving plenty of room for them to continue further with you at an investment.
Step 3: Provide VALUE by giving your tribe your attention. One of the most fundamental human needs is to be seen and acknowledged. To be truly seen is something your tribe is craving. True connection with your tribe is among the best investments you can make in your business (and often costs nothing more than your time).
Your tribe wants your attention. Communicate with them regularly and in your own voice. Include them in 2-way conversations on Twitter, Facebook and your newsletter.
If you find yourself getting a little wiggy at sharing non-biz info about yourself, remember, YOU ultimately control the flow of information and have the best judgment on how much is too much. I’ve noticed that the “I don’t want to share too much” feeling reflects some resistance. Push through it and trust yourself!
Step 4: Invite your clients to take the next step, regularly and OFTEN. Here’s where many heart-centered entrepreneurs let their fear of sales take over and leave clients unserved. You must make regular invitations to your tribe to invest in themselves by working with you.
Remember, being in your tribe is a two-way street. Sharing valuable content and giving your peeps your attention will come back to you in the form of them giving you their attention when it’s time to make offers. Many heart-centered entrepreneurs fail to realize that their peeps want to hear what they have to offer – they wouldn’t be in your tribe if they didn’t!
That’s it! When you follow these 4 steps religiously, you’ll find that your cash flow issues begin to course-correct. And you’ll be well on your way to creating a joyful 6-figure business you love.
Do you struggle with any of these 4 steps?
